The CBS All Access OTT app for Xbox was redesigned with a side navigation experience while bringing in elements to correspond with the CBS tablet and phone app. The OTT experience was updated to bring in a cohesive look to the CBS design system, while also thinking of Xbox users who are familiar with the device’s native UI and UX. Xbox and Smart TV’s were the first platforms to focus on side nav at this time. Understanding the selected and deselected state, the use of controllers and remote control was also a key point in making a successful app experience. The resulting ten percent increase of viewership proved that changing from a top to side navigation was a viable company goal to pursue with additional OTT platforms moving forward.
